The Journal of Sensory


Self Initiated
Photos and videos help us preserve memories, yet they often fail to capture the full atmosphere of a moment. This project reimagines how we record experiences by incorporating scent and environmental elements into digital memories.

Through UX research and interaction design, I explored how sensory perception shapes memory. While searching for scent-related sensors, I found that existing technology detects only certain gases. This led to the idea of blending visual, auditory, and environmental data into abstract compositions.

The result is a creative app that integrates a gas detection sensor with a smartphone camera and microphone. Instead of just an image or video, the app translates the surrounding atmosphere into dynamic, abstract visuals, offering a new way to preserve and relive memories beyond sight and sound.
