WATA is a private volunteer organization that helps the
disabled, their families, and the underprivileged to enjoy cultural benefits.
It practices “art therapy without discrimination” and “internal healing and
improvement of quality of life through art.” I provided talent donation by
editing and planning the special edition of WATA’s 10th anniversary booklet
promoting the World Art Healing Festival. For the past 10 years, I have
researched records related to WATA, interviewed people with disabilities and
their families, contacted event supporters and talent donors in various fields,
and personally observed events. On the one hand, I noticed that the readership
of the existing booklets is mainly for families with disabilities, volunteers,
talent donors, and limited supporters. The proposal interest had led to poor
donations. While planning the special issue, I decided that the diversity of
contents can broaden the range of subscribers, and the creativity of contents
can increase various sponsors and participants. The representative contents I
planned were: At Times Like This, the art therapy guide that is useful even for
non-disabled people; Drama Therapy, Music Therapy, Dance Therapy, and Food
Therapy to provide various healing information according to the reader's
interest in art therapy-oriented contents; Happy Letter, which heals just
through reading; and Recommend My Friend, a 1000-won happiness relay. The
diversity I experienced led to opportunities for creating even more varied and
creative contents, a wider WATA readership, more donations, and ultimately led
to serving more people with disabilities.
At the World Art Healing Festival, I saw supporters and talent donors who cared for, communicated with, and empathized with people with disabilities and their families as if they were their own families. The inclusive service I directly experienced taught me that those who serve receive more grace and emotion than those who receive the assistance. Watching art therapy and cultural performances, the happiness of the disabled people and their families taught me that fairness in art without discrimination can improve lives.

I made
a brochure project proposal that includes the story of WATA’s four big events,
treating not only disabled, but also their families with art, such as colors,
drawing, and street dance. Events are held every year in winter and summer. I
also designed the main theme and the cover of the booklet that would be
published for the 10th anniversary of WATA.
